How to make full use of Sentinare

Just unboxed your Sentinare sensor?

Follow the quickstart guide of the Sentinare sensor and the mobile app, including some video demos. Typical first-time setup: 15 to 20 minutes

The following document provides further details and examples on how to set up Sentinare in different scenarios, such as detecting falls in stairs, leaving bed, going to bed, avoiding sitting too long, and sharing with secondary users.

User Manual Download

Review Sentinare user manual below to master the sensor and app features. The user manual is available in English, Chinese, Japanese and Finnish. Key Sections to Prioritize:

  • 1.8.2 Tips on Fall Detection and Backup
  • 1.8.3 Tips on Reducing Number of Alerts
  • 1.9 Troubleshooting – especially, 1.9.3 General Error Recovery Procedure

Demos of Key Features

1) Fall Detection

When a fall occurs, the Sentinare app instantly delivers an alert featuring a stick-figure clip to let users quickly distinguish real falls from false alarms. If face recognition identifies the individual, their name is automatically included in both the alert and the stick-figure clip.

Upgrade to AI-Verified Alerts: Available on paid subscription plans running the latest firmware, our premium AI significantly eliminates false alarms. Once subscribed, simply enable this feature in the device page via the AI-Verified Alert toggle.

2) Waving Hand Detection

If a loved one needs help from the caregiver, he/she can wave to the Sentinare sensor to trigger the waving hand detection alerts. The sensor’s LED will flash red for a few seconds, and then turn to purple and send the alert to the app. The alert sensitivity can be adjusted from the app (See the user manual for details). The video below shows the results with low, medium, and high sensitivities respectively.

3) Region of Interest

Define custom zones, such as restricted areas, overstays, or absence alerts, to proactively monitor dementia-related wandering or high-risk bed exits.

  • Personal Tracking: Requires face recognition to track specific individuals.
  • Universal Tracking: Enable the Detect Anyone option to monitor all movement within the zone without facial recognition.

4) Stick Figure Recording

The Sentinare sensor records and plays back all human activity using stick-figure animations. This delivers invaluable visual context for care insights while ensuring personal privacy.

5) Personal Activity Statistics

Adding face photos to your Sentinare account enables individual recognition. The sensor automatically collects personalized activity statistics, allowing for targeted playback and trend analysis.

6) API for Third-Party Integration

With AltumView’s robust API (detailed in Chapter 11 of the User Manual), partners can access real-time and historical sensor data to develop custom algorithms and specialized applications.
